God—The Creator

The sun has one degree of splendor, the moon another, and the stars another; and star differs from star in splendor. 1 Corinthians 15:41

The vast size of the universe compared to this “pale blue dot” was done purposely by God.

17 God set these lights in the expanse of the sky to shine upon the earth, 18 to preside over the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. (Genesis 1:17-18)

God created these things on the fourth day.

He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing. (Job 26:7)

How did human beings know the earth is suspended over nothing in the 6th century BCE?

The book of 2 Enoch was also written hundreds of years before Christ. This apocryphal book gives us a good look at the beginning of creation. Here’s God speaking:

I commanded in the very lowest parts, that visible things should come down from invisible, and Adoil (Light of Creation) came down very great, and I beheld him, and lo!  He had a belly of great light.  And I said to him: Become undone, Adoil, and let the visible come out of you.  And he came undone, and a great light came out.  And I was in the midst of the great light, and as there is born light from light, there came forth a great age, and showed all creation, which I had thought to create.  And I saw that it was good.  And I placed for myself a throne, and took my seat on it, and said to the light: Go thence up higher and fix yourself high above the throne, and be a foundation to the highest things.  And above the light there is nothing else, and then I bent up and looked up from my throne.
And I summoned the very lowest a second time, and said: Let Archas (Spirit of Creation) come forth hard, and he came forth hard from the invisible.  And Archas came forth, hard, heavy, and very red.  And I said: Be opened, Archas, and let there be born from you, and he came undone, an age came forth, very great and very dark, bearing the creation of all lower things, and I saw that it was good and said to him: Go thence down below, and make yourself firm, and be a foundation for the lower things, and it happened and he went down and fixed himself, and became the foundation for the lower things, and below the darkness there is nothing else. (2 Enoch 25-26)

These verses from 2 Enoch fit with the theory of the Big Bang. But there’s a problem with the Big Bang Theory. It’s called the “flatness problem”:

The flatness problem (also known as the oldness problem) is a cosmological fine-tuning problem within the Big Bang model of the universe. Such problems arise from the observation that some of the initial conditions of the universe appear to be fine-tuned to very ‘special’ values, and that small deviations from these values would have extreme effects on the appearance of the universe at the current time. In the case of the flatness problem, the parameter which appears fine-tuned is the density of matter and energy in the universe. This value affects the curvature of space-time, with a very specific critical value being required for a flat universe. Flatness problem – Wikipedia

The following is from the Department of Physics, Ben Gurion University in Israel:

As is seen from Eqs. (7) and (11) one has ΩBC M + ΩBC Λ = 1.009 ≈ 1, which means the universe is flat. /home/www/ftp/data/astro-ph/dir_0102033/0102033.dvi (cern.ch)

What do they mean by flat?

In a flat universe, ΩΛ is the fraction of the energy of the universe due to the cosmological constant, i.e., what we would intuitively call the fraction of the universe that is made up of dark energy. Note that this value changes over time: The critical density changes with cosmological time, but the energy density due to the cosmological constant remains unchanged throughout the history of the universe; the amount of dark energy increases as the universe grows, but the amount of matter does not. Cosmological constant – Wikipedia

Here’s Professor Leonard Susskind in regard to the cosmological constant:

Whoever made the universe made it with an incredibly small, tiny cosmological constant. It is so small, that it is .00000…we can sit here for a while…123 of them, and then a 1. I think it’s actually a 2. But it’s incredibly small, and no one really knows why.

The cosmological constant is the scientific evidence that proves God’s existence, and this is from God. Hebrews 11:3 tells us that what is visible, came from the invisible:

By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. (Hebrews 11:3)

God fine-tuned the universe for life to exist on earth.

For thus says the LORD, who created the heavens, who is God, who formed the earth and made it, who has established it, who did not create it in vain, who formed it to be inhabited: “I am the LORD, and there is no other. (Isaiah 45:18)

In the following scripture, the apostle Paul tells us that God calls into being what does not yet exist:

As it is written: “I have made you a father of many nations.” He is our father in the presence of God, in whom he believed, the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being what does not yet exist. (Romans 4:17)

Let’s look at these scriptures:

20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not by its own will, but because of the One who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. (Romans 8:20-21)

In verse 21, Paul tells us that creation itself is in bondage to decay. This fits with the definition of entropy. The earth is wearing out like a garment. We call this climate change.

How Old Is the Universe?

Let’s listen to the apostle Peter:

But they deliberately overlook the fact that long ago by God’s word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water, (2 Peter 3:5)

The apostle Peter says, “Long ago.” How long is long ago? Let’s look at this scripture:

Beloved, do not let this one thing escape your notice: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. (2 Peter 3:8)

With that said,

For in as many days as this world was made, in so many thousand years shall it be concluded. And for this reason, the Scripture says: “Thus the heaven and the earth were finished, and all their adornment. And God brought to a conclusion upon the sixth day the works that He had made; and God rested upon the seventh day from all His works.” This is an account of the things formerly created, as also it is a prophecy of what is to come. For the day of the Lord is as a thousand years; and in six days created things were completed: it is evident, therefore, that they will come to an end at the sixth thousand year.Irenaeus, Against Heresies (Book V, Chapter 28, paragraph 3)

So, the millennial reign of Jesus Christ will be the thousand-year Sabbath.

For in Your sight a thousand years are but a day that passes, or a watch of the night. (Psalm 90:4)

In regard to string theory, let’s read this:

String theory is a theoretical framework in which the point-like particles of particle physics are replaced by one-dimensional objects called strings. String theory describes how these strings propagate through space and interact with each other.

Let’s compare this to a verse in the Wisdom of Solomon:

For the elements, in ever-changing harmony, like strings of the harp, produce new melody, while the flow of music steadily persists. And this can be perceived exactly from a review of what took place. (Wisdom 19:18)

These things are interesting, but they don’t really matter when it comes to our salvation in Jesus Christ. And if we want to know what God is like, we look to the person of Jesus Christ.

And this is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you: God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. (1 John 1:5)

God is good. He sees all and knows all. God knows every thought and deed of every human being who has ever lived.

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight; everything is uncovered and exposed before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. (Hebrews 4:13)

God created human beings with free will so they might choose to love him and spend eternity with him. But sadly, many won’t accept his sacrifice. So, God will judge the world with righteousness and perfection. No one will be getting away with anything. Hell is real, but we have the forgiveness of sins through the blood of Jesus Christ. Jesus suffered and died on the cross for this very reason. God forgives the sins of our past life, in which we walked in darkness.

I, yes I, am the LORD, and there is no Savior but Me. (Isaiah 43:11)

God has shown the human race the way to be saved, and the only way is through Jesus Christ. When we accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we turn from wrongdoing and do the right thing. We obey God’s commandments, knowing that however we meet our end in this rapidly dying world, we’ll not only avoid the fate of eternal hell, but we’ll receive the crown of eternal joy from God our Savior. In these last days, let’s receive God’s promise of everlasting life through Jesus Christ.
