Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel. —Genesis 49:16
Dan (Hebrew דָ ן – dn) def. to judge
In the final seven years of human history, the antichrist will come and make a covenant with Israel. The man of sin will break the covenant and sit in the third temple and say he’s God.
I look to your deliverance, O Lord.
The antichrist will be the unjust judge who fears neither God nor man.

The antichrist will be the Orthodox and Rabbinic Jew’s Messiah, Islam’s Dajjal, and the apostate church’s Jesus. In the following story, the Rabbi is reassuring the world that God will bring forth a leader: As with Joseph, Moses and FDR, God will bring forth a leader in times of crisis. https://www.yahoo.com/news/joseph-moses-fdr-god-bring-113008456.html
God will indeed raise up a leader, a worthless shepherd who will invade Israel from Dan:
The snorting of enemy horses is heard from Dan. The whole land quakes at the sound of the neighing of his mighty steeds. They come to devour the land and everything in it: the city and all who dwell in it. (Jeremiah 8:16)
Here’s Irenaeus in 180 CE speaking in the context of this scripture and the antichrist:
And Jeremiah does not merely point out his sudden coming, but he even indicates the tribe from which he shall come, where he says, “We shall hear the voice of his swift horses from Dan; the whole earth shall be moved by the voice of the neighing of his galloping horses: he shall also come and devour the earth, and the fullness thereof, the city also, and they that dwell therein.” This, too, is the reason that this tribe is not reckoned in the Apocalypse along with those who are saved. —Irenaeus, Against Heresies (Book V, Chapter 30, paragraph 2)
Is Irenaeus correct about his interpretation of Jeremiah 8:16? In the Westminster Leningrad Codex, the Hebrew that’s used for the phrase “from Dan” is m·dn (or mid-dan), not just dn (Dan). Mid-dan can also be interpreted as the land of Dan in northern Israel. So, the antichrist will most likely invade Israel from Syria through northern Israel where Dan is located, not that the antichrist is from the actual tribe of Dan. However, if the antichrist has any Jewish blood, it will be from the tribe of Dan. Whatever the case, the antichrist will come to Israel in a time of peace, in his own name, and be accepted.
Herod the Great was a good type of the antichrist. He was a Roman-Jewish king who was granted the title of “King of Judea” by the Roman Senate. The antichrist won’t necessarily come from the land of Israel. Here’s Irenaeus again:
Then also Lateinos (ΛΑΤΕΙΝΟΣ) has the number six hundred and sixty-six; and it is a very probable [solution], this being the name of the last kingdom [of the four seen by Daniel]. For the Latins are they who at present bear rule: I will not, however, make any boast over this [coincidence]. —Irenaeus, Against Heresies (Book V, Chapter 30, paragraph 3)
The man whose name equals 666 will come from one of the ten horns (or toes).
The tribe of Dan is associated with several symbols, including the eagle and a pair of scales. But the symbol of a snake is first and foremost.

Dan will be a snake by the road, a viper in the path that bites the horse’s heels so that its rider falls backward. (Genesis 49:17)
Some under the law of Moses (and others) believe this prophecy also means the tribe of Dan will leave a snake trail of sorts, like breadcrumbs. Let’s keep in mind that the ten northern tribes of Israel were assumed lost after Israel fell to Assyria in 722 BCE. Some say the ten tribes were either wiped out or joined other peoples. One legend even says the ten tribes migrated to Europe and the Danube got its name from the tribe of Dan. So, let’s put this to the test. Let’s use the theory of the snake’s trail and see if we can’t track the tribe of Dan throughout history.

After losing their inheritance because they couldn’t drive out the Amorites, the tribe of Dan was first driven into the hill country, the mountains of Israel.
(Later, when the territory of the Danites was lost to them, they went up and fought against Leshem, captured it, and put it to the sword. So they took possession of Leshem, settled there, and renamed it after their father Dan.) (Joshua 19:47)
The sons of Dan went north, put Leshem to the sword, and renamed it Dan. Lesham is located in upper Galilee near the Golan Heights and the border of Lebanon.

The renaming of cities or territories after their ancestor Dan, son of Bilhah, Rachael’s handmaid, might have become a custom as the tribe of Dan (as well as other tribes and peoples) spread around the world by land and sea.
What is less well known but even more compelling is how this serpent motif would manifest itself over and over again in artwork often associated with the Vikings of whom some claimed ancestry from a mythical father Dan “Odin”.
Let’s look at the etymological origin of the name Odin:
The Old Norse theonym Óðinn (runic ᚢᚦᛁᚾ on the Ribe skull fragment) is a cognate of other medieval Germanic names, including Old English Wōden, Old Saxon Wōdan, Old Dutch Wuodan.
Let’s continue:
Two notable examples are the runic stones left by the Vikings all across Europe with serpents on them and the beautiful and deadly longships with a dragon/serpent at the head. https://www.britam.org/GriffithsDan.html
In the context of seafaring people, let’s read this scripture from the song of Deborah, which is from the 12th century BCE:
Gilead remained beyond the Jordan. Dan, why did you turn aside from the road for ships? Asher stayed at the coast and remained in his harbors. (Judges 5:17)
This scripture is from the 12th century BCE, which fits with the timeline. The tribe of Dan’s primary trade characteristic was seafaring, unusual for the Israelite tribes.[21]
Taking up ships like Javan (or Greeks, though the Greeks were referred to as Danaans by Homer), some of Dan (Denyen) aligned themselves with Tyre, becoming a part of the Sea Peoples (https://futileworld.com/2021/04/03/the-sea-peoples-tyre/). Tyre (Teresh) was the main headquarters of these seafaring raiders. We know this from the prophecy against Tyre from Ezekiel 26:
Then they will lament for you, saying, “How you have perished, O city of renown inhabited by seafaring men—she who was powerful on the sea, along with her people, who imposed terror on all peoples! (Ezekiel 26:17)
We know for a fact that Dan conducted business with Tyre from the lament against Tyre.
and Dan and Javan, (going back and forth) from Uzal, traded with you wrought iron, cassia, and calamus for your merchandise. (Ezekiel 27:19)
We can also connect Tyre and Dan by using the El Amarna letters from the mid 14th century, in which the King of Tyre mentions “Danuna”. This is in the context of the King of Danuna’s death and how his brother succeeded him. Some scholars believe that Danuna is located in Canaan. So, the Danuna is most likely referring to the tribe of Dan in the city of Dan just east of Tyre. Let’s remember that Deborah’s prophecy about Dan remaining in ships or “lingering by the ships” is from the 12th century BCE.
Many 12th century BC civilizations were destroyed by the Sea Peoples and other migrating nations. The Hittite Empire fell, as did the Mycenaean civilization, the kingdom of Alashiya (which consisted of part or all of Cyprus) and Ugarit, and other cultures.
The confederation of Sea Peoples was eventually defeated by Egypt after about a 13-year war. In the following quote from the Papyrus Harris from 1164 BCE, Ramesses III said, “I slew the Denyen in their Islands.” He could be referring to the modern-day Greek Islands north of Egypt. After the defeat of the Sea Peoples in the Battle of the Delta in 1175 BCE, some scholars believe the Danuna returned to the Levant as a counter migration, while many of the Danuna went to the Aegean and Mycenae and became known as the Danaans. Whatever the case, the tribe of Dan probably continued to spread and migrate, possibly as far north as Denmark, conquering people and eventually becoming the Danish. However, at least some of the tribe of Dan (or at least the name), were still in Israel during the reign of King Jeroboam around 790 BCE, practicing idolatry:
One calf he set up in Bethel, and the other in Dan. And this thing became a sin; the people walked as far as Dan to worship before one of the calves. (1 Kings 12:29-30)
In the 9th century CE, Nennius, the author of the Historia Brittonum, said that it’s possible to trace the Anglo-Saxons back, not only to Western Europe and Southern Russia, but to Media, where the Israelites were in captivity. But there’s debate about whether Nennius was a valid historian.
In about 873, the king of Denmark was Sigurd Snake-in-the-Eye (Old Norse: Sigurðr ormr í auga) or Sigurd Áslaugsson. He was a Viking warrior and Danish king active from the mid to late 9th century. Norwegian kings’ genealogies of the Middle Ages name him as an ancestor of Harald Fairhair and used his mother’s supposed ancestry the Völsung to create an ancestry between Harald and his descendants and Odin.

Sigurd Snake-in-the-Eye was born from an extramarital affair between his father Ragnar Lodbrok and a woman named Kráka. As Sigurd’s name testifies, he was born with the image of a white snake in one eye. The snake encircled the iris and bit itself in the tail. This well-known sign is an ouroboros.

In Norse mythology, the ouroboros appears as the serpent Jörmungandr, one of the three children of Loki and Angrboda, which grew so large that it could encircle the world and grasp its tail in its teeth. Sigurd Snake-in-the-Eye is a shadow of the antichrist, who will have only one eye. The antichrist will be the ruler of the world. He will be the snake encircling the world and grasping his tail in his teeth,

and he might come from the tribe of Dan. But let’s continue on the trail with another quote from Brit-Am, the Hebraic Tribes Movement:
Danes from the Israelite Tribe of Dan invaded Denmark at about the same time as the Naphtali moved in large numbers into Norway. The Tribe of Dan was represented by a snake or by a lion. Other accepted symbols of Dan were a pair of scales, an eagle, and a dragon. Many members of Dan settled in Denmark, in Ireland, in Wales, England, and the U.S.A. where 40-50 million people have Irish ancestry. The symbol of a snake was once worshipped in Ireland; a lion represents Denmark and England, Wales has a dragon on its flag, and the U.S.A. has an eagle. https://www.britam.org/dan.html#:~:text=Danes%20from%20the%20Israelite%20Tribe%20of
So, some from the tribe of Dan could’ve migrated west from Denmark to England, Wales, and Ireland. The following quote is in the context of the tribe of Dan in Ireland: The hypothetical nominative form of the name, *Danu, is not found in any medieval Irish text, but is rather a reconstruction by modern scholars based on the genitive Danann (also spelled Donand or Danand), which is the only form attested in the primary sources (e.g. in the collective name of the Irish gods, Tuatha dé Danann “Tribe / People of Danu”).
Let’s remember that the origin of the Danes remains a mystery, but several ancient historical documents and texts refer to them. The Danes first appear in written history in the 6th century. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danes_(tribe)
In the 7th century CE, the Sutton Hoo helmet arrived in eastern England. This helmet prefigures the antichrist.
In regard to the Irish Tuatha De Danaan, let’s look at some research compiled from a collection of Celtic manuscripts from around 700 CE:
The Tale of the Tuatha De Danaan spans many centuries and surprisingly begins in ancient Greece. There, long before the rise of the Mycenaens, there lived a race of nomads known as the Pelasgians.
Tribal in nature, they were sea-farers who claimed to be born from the teeth of the Cosmic Snake Ophion, and the Great Goddess Danu.
Homer spoke of them as the Danaoi.
As they migrated north they left their mark upon the races that they touched until at last they reached Denmark where they established a great kingdom. Denmark means “Kingdom of the Danaans.” https://allaboutromance.com/the-tuatha-de-danaan-the-children-of-the-goddess-danu/
Some mixed-race people from the tribe of Dan could’ve easily migrated to the United States from Ireland.
The U.S.A. has an eagle for its symbol, but like Dan, it was a snake first, beginning with Benjamin Franklin’s Join, or Die woodcut in 1754. Next was the Gadsden flag. The rattlesnake was a symbol of the unity of the Thirteen Colonies at the start of the Revolutionary War, and it had a long history as a political symbol in America.

The rattlesnake symbol was first officially adopted by the Continental Congress in 1778 when it approved the design for the seal of the War Office. At the top center of the seal is a rattlesnake holding a banner that says, “This we’ll defend”. This design of the War Office seal was carried forward—with some minor modifications—into the subsequent designs as well as the Department of the Army’s seal, emblem and flag.
Even though the symbols of the tribe of Dan and the United States are eagles, they are still snakes underneath, because that’s what they were first.

In the Bible, the only other animal the tribe of Dan is associated with besides a snake is a lion’s cub. This could symbolize a “young lion”, which could represent western countries which were born from England. Let’s look at this prophecy:
Dan is a lion’s cub, leaping out of Bashan.” (Deuteronomy 33:22)
Why did Moses prophesy the tribe of Dan will leap out from Bashan when they were originally given their inheritance on the Mediterranean coast? The land originally allocated to Dan was a small enclave in the central coastal area of Canaan, between Judah, Benjamin, Ephraim and the Philistines.
Let’s look at where Bashan is:

The antichrist may leap upon Israel from modern-day Syria according to Ezekiel 38. Syria and the Golan Heights is where Gog could invade Israel from. If Gog is the antichrist, and there’s debate about this, then he will probably enter Israel from this point, strategically speaking. So, if the antichrist is from the tribe of Dan, and Gog is the antichrist, then the invasion of Israel could begin from the Golan Heights, leaping from Bashan. As a side note, the only other place we see the name Gog in the Bible is in the tribe of Reuben, but it’s not in the context of the end-times.
So, by following the serpent’s trail and assuming that the US is a young lion, are we trying to say the antichrist will come from the United States? In the center of Kansas, which is in the center of the United States, there’s a town called Odin:

Wherever the antichrist might come from, we’re told in the book of Revelation that he’ll suffer a mortal head wound by the sword but live. The sword represents a violent act. The antichrist will eventually have one eye. He will likely be shot in the back of the head and the bullet will exit his right eye, but he’ll live. He might become a transhuman through AI. But this mortal wound might also paralyze his arm.
Woe to the worthless shepherd, who forsakes the flock! May a sword strike his arm and his right eye! May his arm be completely withered and his right eye utterly blinded!” (Zechariah 11:17)
The world is already being conditioned for the coming of the lawless one. This is being done through the one-eye sign, as we see on the back of the one-dollar bill and in the entertainment industry.

Those who are going to eternal destruction are going to love him.
The coming of the lawless one will be accompanied by the working of Satan, with every kind of power, sign, and false wonder, and with every wicked deception directed against those who are perishing, because they refused the love of the truth that would have saved them. (2 Thessalonians 2:9-10)
Irenaeus says the antichrist will come “suddenly”. So, we may not know who he is until he arrives, but we can verify it’s him with the number of his name.
Conclusion
The tribe of Dan was included in the twelve tribes of Israel in the books of Genesis and Numbers. In Numbers chapter 1, the tribe of Manasseh is included, and the tribe of Levi, from Genesis, is not included in the census because they’re in charge of the tabernacle. In Revelation 7, the tribe of Dan is excluded, and the tribes of Levi and Manasseh are included. The Levites are no longer singled out to be in charge of the tabernacle, they’re simply listed with the other tribes. But the tribes of Dan and Manasseh are included in the ten lost tribes of Israel. There are four tribes not mentioned in the ten lost tribes; they are Judah, Levi, Joseph, and Benjamin. This gives us a total of fourteen tribes. How do we get back to the 12 tribes in the book of Revelation? The two tribes not included in Revelation 7 are Dan and Ephraim. In 1 Kings 12, the tribe of Dan began worshiping golden calves, which is idolatry, and made priests from the common people. They wanted their own priests; not what God had appointed (see 1 Kings 12:28-31 and Amos 8:14). These things may be why the tribe of Dan is excluded. They left the straight path, so to speak. In regard to the tribe of Ephraim, God says through Hosea the prophet that Ephraim “mixes with the nations” (see Hosea 7:8-13; 12:1, 8; 13:1, 12). The standard of the camp of the men of Dan acted as the rear guard for all units of Israel, followed by Asher and Naphtali. This division set out last (see Numbers 10:25 and 2:31). Jesus Christ is from the tribe of Judah, and Judah’s tribal symbol is a lion (see Genesis 49:9). The standard of the camp of the men of Judah set out first (see Numbers 10:14).
The sons of Dan lost their inheritance in the promised land, but they’re prophesied to get a portion back during the thousand-year Sabbath, the millennial reign of Christ:
“Now these are the names of the tribes: At the northern frontier, Dan will have one portion bordering the road of Hethlon to Lebo-hamath and running on to Hazar-enan on the border of Damascus with Hamath to the north and extending from the east side to the west side. (Ezekiel 48:1)
The ten tribes aren’t really lost, because God knows where everyone is.
Let’s continue to love the Lord our God and do the right thing in an evil and dying world. Let’s keep God’s commandments and receive our inheritance, the promise of eternal life from God our savior through Jesus Christ our Lord.
